Frequently Asked Questions
“Be curious, not judgmental.” —Ralph Waldo Emerson
What can I expect working with you?
Therapy can feel overwhelming at times and I always tell folks that working on yourself is a very humbling and challenging process. We will start by just getting to know each other, what your needs are presently, and what your goals are for the future. I typically meet with clients on a weekly basis for the first 4 weeks to build a healthy foundation, and then we explore if we need to continue weekly or begin spacing out sessions. Our session time frame consists of 60 minute sessions and I may provide additional resources/homework in between sessions.
What degrees or trainings do you have?
I graduated with my Master’s in Clinical Counseling from ECU in 2019. I volunteered for over a year for the Suicide Hotline earlier in my career, receiving additional trainings in suicide prevention and awareness. I am also trained to provide care using treatment modalities such as CBT, ACT, and ERP for mental health symptoms ranging from anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, and trauma. I have also attended trainings both online and in-person for substance use treatment approaches and understanding addictions, primarily with alcohol or opioids.
What insurances do you accept and what is your self-pay rate?
I am in-network with Cigna, Aetna, and Optum insurance carriers. If you did not want to use your insurance, or are uninsured, I do offer self-pay therapy for $160 per session with some available sliding scale options. I can also provide a Superbill for potential insurance reimbursement if you are wanting to use OON benefits. I am licensed in both NC & SC for telehealth services.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require a 24-hour notice for late cancellations via email or phone call. If not cancelled within 24 hours, a fee of $75 will be charged to the card on file. I offer one “freebie” a year to waive the late cancellation fee.
What should I know about virtual therapy?
Virtual therapy makes your life easier! You still get the benefit of developing a meaningful connection with myself as your therapist, while staying in the comfort of your home or wherever you wish to be. With virtual therapy, our sessions are HIPAA-protected through a secure portal that you can log into via your computer or phone.
What do you mean by “holistic healing”?
Holistic healing within the context of therapy means that we don’t just focus on treating your mental health symptoms, but viewing your life with more context. Healing ourselves mentally also involves eating proper nutritional meals, sleeping at least 7-9 hours a night, balancing self-care and time outdoors, prioritizing healthy social connections, and finding our purpose in life.
